Revenge is Sweet - 10 August 2024

Two weeks earlier, the Taree City Bulls upset the Tigers at Wingham in a wet weather game.  This time, Wingham travelled to Taree for another local derby, this time in the charity game for the Kristylea Bridge Cup.
First Grade
The Tigers had a couple of players returning from injury, and another couple from suspension, but lost Shannon Martin on the morning of the game through illness.
It was again a tough battle, with the only points in the first half coming from a kick which resulted in Fletcher Lewis scoring in the corner.  But the Tigers also lost full back Jarrad Gibson with a knee injury.
Just after the break, Jake Mullen ran into a hole to score. Ethan Ferguson's kick made the score 10-0.  Minutes later, Mason Lewis, making his First Grade debut, was denied a try in the corner with the final pass ruled forward.
Midway through the half, Tim Bridge scored beside the posts following a Kurt Fowles break. With the conversion, Wingham led 16-0.
Inside the final ten minutes, the Bulls pounced on a grubber kick in the in-goal area to make the score 16-4. Minutes later, an early kick by Taree City caught the Tigers' defense unaware, resulting in a try next to the posts. Wingham held on for the final minute to win 16-10, and seal a semi-final spot with three games remaining.
(Fletcher Lewis, Jake Mullen, Tim Bridge tries, Ethan Ferguson 2 goals)
Reserve Grade
The Reserve Grade game a fortnight earlier resulted in a draw, and the scores were locked at 18-18 at half time after tries by Tahj Colquhoun, Jacob Cross and Jacob Smith, all three converted by Tajh Colquhoun.
But Taree City ran in 4 unanswered tries in the second half to run out 38-18 winners.
(Tajh Colquhoun, Jacob Cross, Jacob Smith tries, Tajh Colquhoun, 3 goals)
Under 18s
The Wingham Tigers Under 18s were beaten with a late try two weeks earlier, but this time on a dry track, the Tigers dominated with a 38-10 victory after leading 20-0 at half time.
Wingham scored four tries in each half, with 8 different try-scorers in a dominant performance which sees them jump to second on the competition table.
(Zac Schafer, Ben Guy, Josh Hopkins, Ricky Carrington, Lleyton Moore, Luke Croker, Mason Lewis, Kaleb Kucinskis tries, Luke Croker 3 goals)
League Tag
The League Tag game also saw a reversal of results from a fortnight earlier.
Wingham led 12-4 at the break after tries by Eva Jenkins and Luci Yarnold, both convertted by Chloe Buddle. An intercept try by Aliesha Bell, converted by Chloe Buddle, increased the lead to 18-4.
Then the Bulls scored twice to make the last minutes of the game close at 18-14.
A try by Mia Wall in the corner right on full time sealed victory by the Tigers 22-14.
(Eva Jenkins, Luci Yarnold, Aliesha Bell, Mia Wall tries, Chloe Buddle 3 goals)
Women's Tackle
The Tigers Women's Tackle team played the Laurieton Stingrays at Harrington without any League Tag players and were beaten 58-0.
